Description

Overview Wedjat Eye Incision Plaque Third Intermediate Period ca. 1000–945 B.C. On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 126 Found over the abdominal incision through which Gautsoshen’s viscera were removed (then replaced after being mummified), this plaque is incised with a wedjat, the healed eye of Horus. It thus embodies healing, as well as protection and regeneration.
