Overview Tumbler Probably Hobbs, Brockunier and Company American 1880–87 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This cylindrical cranberry-colored glass tumbler, similar to 1985.19.2, is decorated with a hobnail pattern on its interior and was fabricated in a two-piece mold. It descended in the family of William Leighton Sr., and his son, William Leighton Jr. The elder Leighton was one of the original partners in the Hobbs, Brockunier and Company firm. He served as the factory scientist and superintendent until his retirement in 1867 when he was succeeded by his son.
