Overview Tumbler Hobbs, Brockunier and Company American 1880–87 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This glass tumbler may have been machine blown. It represents one of the artistic glasswares developed by Hobbs, Brockunier and other firms in the 1880s. The piece descended in the family of William Leighton Sr., and his son, William Leighton Jr. The elder Leighton was one of the original partners in Hobbs, Brockunier and Company. He served as the factory scientist and superintendent until his retirement in 1867 when he was succeeded by his son.
