Description

Overview Vase New England Glass Company American 1855–75 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 706 To imitate silver in glass, the glassblower poured a solution containing metallic silver into the cavity between the walls of a double walled vessel, and the solution adhered to its interior. The hole at the bottom was sealed to prevent discoloration and, in this case, was marked with the name of the manufactory.
