Overview Vase American or European 1835–45 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This vase is painted in polychrome on a French Rococo-style form, with a representation of a romanticized view of George Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon, Virginia. The view is probably based on a drawing by W. H. Bartlett, engraved by J. T. Willmore, and published in 1839.
