Description

Overview Wall Clock Aaron Willard American 1772–82 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This is one of nearly two dozen known examples of what is the earliest form of the New England wall clock; of these five are signed by Aaron Willard, the rest by his older brother Simon. This dial is the only one with a date aperture. The design of these clocks provided the basis for later Massachusetts shelf clocks.
