Description

Overview Wash Basin Mexican ca. 1850 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 As a result of European Neoclassicism, new colors and styles were introduced in the production of Mexican ceramics in the nineteenth century. The rose/mauve color was first used in the early 1800s. The "azul punche" or pale blue type with multicolored motifs on pastel grounds was also introduced. Both white and red clays were employed in this period of Puebla maoilica production.
