Overview Water Goblet Possibly Christian Dorflinger French 1860–70 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This water goblet was made for John Taylor Johnston, whose monogram "J" appears in a medallion below the bowknot. Johnston was the first president of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The monogram medallion is the same one that appears on a bowl in the collection, 69.144.3.
