Overview Windowpane Manufacturer Possibly made by Boston & Sandwich Glass Company American 1840–70 On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774 This large amber pressed-glass windowpane was found in a transom over a door in a house in Wheeling, West Virginia. In the nineteenth century, Wheeling was a center of glass production. Pressed-glass panes were used to decorate lanterns, door sidelights, and desk or cupboard doors.
